General Questions

Curious about our hours, location, programs?

Q: Where is the Early Childhood Family Resource Centre of Westmorland-Albert located?

A: Our main Centre location is located on 86 St-Therese Road in Dieppe, NB!

     We also have outreach locations in Moncton, Riverview, Salisbury, Hillsborough,

      Petitcodiac, Shediac and Cap-Pele, where we offer monthly programs or activities.

Q; Who do you serve?

A: We primarily serve pregnant women and parents/ caregivers/ grandparents with kids

     under the age of 6. We have a special focus on low-income or isolated families,

     who also may be affected by: homelessness, food insecurity, unemployment,

     and/or have limited access to transportation and cultural resources. 

​

Q: What are your opening hours?

A: We are open Monday - Thursday from 9am - 4pm, and Friday from 9am - 12pm. 

     We are closed on Saturday and Sunday. 

​

      NOTE: our Centre follows the same schedule as schools in the region.

      This means, we are closed when schools are closed, such as during March Break,

      Summer Break, Holiday / New Year Break., Federal and Provincial Holidays, and storm closures.

​

Q: Is there a cost to join the programs and activities?

A: All of our programs and activities are free of charge, with the exception of

     our annual Zoo and Apple Picking Outings. We can offer financial support

     to those who may need it to alleviate cost of those specific activities.

​

Q: How do I register for a program and/or activity?

A: This can be done in 3 easy steps!

     1. For new families / participants, we require you to fill out our registration form by calling the Centre (384-7874) or              filling out the form on your first visit.

     2. Once you're registered with us, you can find our calendar of activities directly on our website or on our social                     media (Facebook).

     3. Choose which activity you'd like to register for, then give us a call at the Centre to confirm your spot for the                         activity or program: 506-384-7874.

Q: I cannot move to the program and/or activity. Is there funding to help with transportation?

A: Yes there is! We can offer free bus passes to and from our programs, for those who may need it.

Q: Do I need to stay with my kid(s) during a program or activity? Can I drop them off?

A: Our programs and activities require the parent/ guardian and/or grandparent

     to stay present with the child while at the Centre and/or any of our Outreach Sites.

​

Q: I love what you guys do and would love to get involved! How can I volunteer at the Centre? 

A: This is great! We are always looking for volunteers to help us out here at the Centre.

 

     We typically seek volunteers in the following areas:

      - Support programs and services;

      - Administration;

      - Special events;

      - Nutrition;

      - Family presentations;

      - Music and art;

      - Fundraising;

      - Becoming a member of our Board of Directors.

Q: How can I donate? What can we donate to help at the Centre?

A: This is great news and a great way to contribute in helping our city's less fortunate.

     Donations typically accepted here at the Centre includes:

     - Monetary donations and/or Sobeys / Irving Gift Certificates

     - Baby care package items (diapers, wipes, baby clothing, etc)

     - New mother care package items (dry shampoo, nipple cream, baby carrier,

        sleep swaddles, nursing clothes / pajama, etc)

     - Office supplies (Photo Copy Paper, White Envelopes, Lg. Brown Envelopes, Elastics/Staples,

        Post-It-Notes, Pens/Pencils, Paper Clips, White-Out)

     - Cleaning & household supplies (All Purpose Cleaner, Toilet Bowl Cleaner, Garbage Bags

        Liquid Hand Soap, Dish Detergent, Baby Wipes, Lysol Wipes, Windex, Toilet Paper)

     - Craft supplies (construction paper, stickers, pompoms, craft paints, googly eggs, etc)

     - Snack items (Crackers, Kids Fish Crackers, Nut-Free Granola Bars, Fruits,

        Individual Yogurt Cups, Cheese Sticks, Individual Apple Sauces / Squeeze Pouches, etc)​

Prenatal Questions

Curious about our prenatal programs & offerings?

Q: Do you offer prenatal programs for pregnant women?

A: Yes we do!

Q; Is your prenatal program offered in French?

A: Yes! We proudly offer all of our programs in both official languages (French and English).

​

Q: How long is the prenatal program offered for?

A: Our prenatal program duration is 6 weeks.

​

Q: I just learned that I'm pregnant. When should I sign up for a prenatal program?

A: First of, congratulations! You can join a prenatal program at any point during your pregnancy!

​

Q: Can my partner / family member / friend join me for the prenatal program?

A: ABSOLUTELY! The more the merrier. You can bring along any support person that might benefit

     from the information shared in the program to best support you alongside this journey!

​

Q: What's typically covered during the 6-Weeks Prenatal Program?

A: Classes cover pregnancy health and baby’s development, nutrition, childbirth

     (comfort measures, stages and medical interventions), breastfeeding, early postpartum

     and newborn care, home safety (home hazards, car seat safety…) and more as needed.

Postnatal Questions

Curious about our postnatal programs & offerings?

Q: Do you offer postnatal programs for new mothers?

A: Yes we do! We offer our Postnatal Program and a Mother's Mental Health Program.

Q; Is your postnatal program offered in French?

A: Yes! We proudly offer all of our programs in both official languages (French and English).

​

Q: How long are the postnatal programs offered for?

A: Both programs varies in length, depending on the needs of the group. Average length is 4-6 weeks.

​

Q: Can my partner / family member / friend join me for the postnatal program?

A: ABSOLUTELY! The more the merrier. You can bring along any support person that might benefit

     from the information shared in the program to best support you alongside this journey!

​

Q: What's typically covered during the Postnatal Program?

A: Sessions can cover anything from baby development to playing and singing with baby, safety,

     budgeting, relationships, feeding baby…depending on the interests and needs of the group.

​

Q: What's typically covered during the Mother's Mental Health Program?

A: Topics include during this program includes: wellness and self care,

     nutrition, support, stress management, and more. 

Early Life Questions

Curious about our Early Life programs & offerings?

Q: What types of programs and activities do you offer for young kids (0-6 years)?

A: We offer a few different programs for young kids, such as:

     - Healthy Start for Active Kids Program;

     - Active Kids Program;;

     - To be Four, Funs Galore Preschool Program.

     

      We offer a few different weekly in-Centre activities, such as:

      - Musical mornings;

      - Free plays.

Q; Are your Early Life services offered in French?

A: Yes! We proudly offer all of our programs in both official languages (French and English).

​

Q: How long do the Early Life programs typically run for?

A: The Healthy Start for Active Kids Program is 4 weeks in length.

     The Active Kids Program is a 2-Hours workshop.

     The To Be Four, Funs Galore Preschool Program is 10 weeks in length. 

​

      Our 1,2,3, GO, musical mornings and free play sessions are all weekly offering

      and can be joined at any point in time, without a minimum time requirement.

Q: Do you offer programs specifically for parents / caregivers?

A: Yes we do! We offer several programs, such as:

     - Positive Parenting;

     - Nobody's Perfect;

     - Handle with Care;

     - Kids Have Stress Too.
